    1…Qc4

    2. Rxb7 Qc1+ 3. Qf1 Qxf1#

    2. Rxg7+ Kxg7 3. Qg5+ Kf8-+

    2. Rf6 Rd8 3. h3 Rd1+ 4. Kh2 gxf6 5. Qg6+ Kf8 6. Qxf6+ Qf7-+

  2. mdchess says:

    1. .. Rd8 2. h3 Rd2 does not work because of Rf8#

    Instead

    1. .. Qe8 (threat Qxf7) 3. Rxb7 Qe1+ wins

  3. yelenadembo says:

Also works, but 1…Qe8 is more precise! Less available checks after 2.Rxg7 and the Q is able to help quickly.

  4. yelenadembo says:

    Well done

Thanks! I see what you mean. I saw the back rank trick but not that 1. Qe8 was also possible. I have to remember Lasker’s “When you see a good move, look for a better one!”
