Gashimov won against Vallejo Pons who was the leader of the event after 7 rounds and caught up with him. The endgame was very interesting but always looked much better for Black due to his passed pawn. Three players are on 4 – Onischuk, Movsesian and Navara.
In the 6th round there were two short (sorry, for repeating myself :-)) games: Short lost to Movsesian in 20 moves and Gashimov won against Ivanchuk in 27. While the first game was really weird, in the second one Black King just didnt manage to find peace. After making a draw vs Caruana, Vallejo Pons retains the lead with 4.5 points.
In round 5 there were 4 draws and Ivanchuk won against Godena. Vallejo Pons leads with 4 points.
