Student’s game

Today I’d like to show you a very interesting game of a student of mine. His name is Ed Dodd and his USCF is 1140. Ed had started studying seriously (and correctly) on his own very recently but has already made a huge progress. Of course, there are some mistakes in this game, some are even very serious ones, but some moves played by Ed show his potential and clear knowledge of certain middlegame methods.

Women’s World Rapid Championship

This incredibly strong event started yesterday in Batumi, Georgia. There are 50 players playing, including 5 ex-world champions! Definitely a record number! After 3 rounds there are two leaders who have 3 points – Chinese Huang and Cramling of Sweden. They play each other in round 4. Four players share 3rd place – Khurtsidze, Stefanova, Koneru and Kosteniuk. The official website doesn’t have games yet, but you can view the results on http://chess-results.com/tnr73529.aspx?art=2&rd=4&lan=1&turdet=YES&flag=30
